Organized and funded All Day Summer programs at Andrews & Waiakea Uka Gym
Supported funding for the Retired Service Volunteer Program mileage
Infrastructure
Secured funding for the Kapiolani Street extension
Backed renovations for the Waiakea Recreation Center
Supported Hilo Municipal Golf Course renovations
Public Safety
Organized and funded new lights for Kawananakoa Field
Advocated for additional staffing at Haihal Fire
Secured funding for NAS Pool re-roofing
Provided $50,000 for Hilo Skate Park
Supported funding for Hilo Drag Strip and Skeet Range
Social Services
Backed the Family Violence Interagency Committee and summit
Supported funding for the Mass Transit Base Yard
Provided funding to HPD for the Community Policing Bike program
Supplied HFD with search and rescue equipment
Secured funding for HFD maintenance warehouse and chopper hangar roofing
Environmental
Obtained $270,000 from the State Hawaii Invasive Species Council for the Fire Ant Crew
Secured $290,000 from the State Dept. of Agriculture for the Fire Ant Program
Transportation
Obtained $3 million from the State Dept. of Transportation for Kalanianaole Ave. improvements
Recreation
Supported funding for the Waiakea Uka Playground
Backed funding for the Panaewa Playground
Supported dressing room and bathroom upgrades for the Edith Kanakaole Multi-Purpose Stadium
Secured a State Grant for the construction of the Hawaii Island Adult Care Center
Water Supply
- Supported $550,000 from the State Capital Budget for the replacement of water lines along Nohea Street and Santos Lane
